On May 5, 2025, ITC International Transport and Trading Joint Stock Company (ITC JSC) – one of the leading shipping companies headquartered in Hai Phong, Vietnam – was honored to welcome H.E. Nubiela Yanarith Ayala Modes, Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to Vietnam, along with her delegation, as part of her official working visit.
This visit marked a meaningful milestone, not only for ITC JSC, but also for the growing diplomatic and maritime relationship between Panama and Vietnam. ITC JSC is proud to be the first maritime company in Hai Phong selected by the Ambassador for an official visit during her mission – an affirmation of ITC JSC’s position and credibility in the international shipping community.
Panama – A Maritime Flag of Global Significance
As the world’s largest flag state by gross tonnage, Panama plays a pivotal role in global shipping. Its registry is favored by thousands of shipowners for its efficient services, competitive registration fees, and global recognition.
For Vietnamese shipowners, Panama is not only a flag of convenience but also a symbol of international integration. Many vessels in the ITC JSC fleet are currently operating under the Panama flag, reflecting our commitment to global standards and compliance with international maritime conventions. With this foundation, ITC JSC plans to expand the number of Panama-flagged vessels in the near future as part of our strategic growth roadmap.
Key Areas of Cooperation Discussed
During the meeting at ITC JSC’s headquarters, the Ambassador and company representatives exchanged ideas on potential cooperation in several critical areas, including:
- Collaboration in ship registration and operation under the Panama flag
- Support in certification procedures for Vietnamese seafarers
- Strengthening legal and consular assistance in emergency situations
The discussion highlighted shared values in safety, compliance, and human resource development in the maritime sector.
A Shared Vision for the Future
Ambassador Ayala expressed her strong impressions of ITC JSC’s business structure, the professionalism of its leadership, and the company’s strategic direction toward international expansion.
She also emphasized Panama’s willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese maritime enterprises and expressed hope that Panama could become a strong support partner for Vietnamese shipowners and seafarers. From registration procedures to consular support and legal protection, the Panamanian side is ready to provide assistance to ensure safe and lawful operations on a global scale.
ITC’s Role in the Future of Maritime Vietnam
With a rapidly growing fleet of Panamax and chemical tankers, along with a young, capable, and internationally certified crew, ITC JSC is determined to affirm its position as a trusted name in Vietnam’s maritime transport industry. We believe that strengthening ties with Panama will open up new opportunities not only for our business but also for the Vietnamese maritime sector as a whole.
As international trade becomes more interconnected and competitive, ITC JSC recognizes the importance of aligning with global standards in ship management, safety, and crew development. Our long-term vision is to not only expand our fleet but also to become a model of excellence in maritime professionalism in the region.
In addition, ITC JSC places special emphasis on crew welfare, international compliance, and safety culture, which aligns well with Panama’s maritime principles. We continuously invest in improving onboard living conditions, ensuring legal protections for our seafarers, and maintaining compliance with IMO conventions and flag state regulations.
Looking Ahead
This diplomatic visit was more than a formal exchange – it was a genuine commitment to future collaboration, built on trust, shared vision, and mutual respect. For ITC JSC, it is both an honor and a strong affirmation of the company’s international orientation and credibility in the maritime industry.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to Ambassador Nubiela Yanarith Ayala Modes and her delegation for their valuable time and insights during the visit. The conversations held during this exchange provided clear directions for potential collaboration and mutual growth.
We are confident that this visit will pave the way for a long-term partnership between ITC JSC and the Panamanian maritime system, benefiting seafarers, the shipping industry, and both nations. With solid diplomatic foundations and shared interests, ITC looks forward to continued engagement and future opportunities with Panama.
